Kyla is an illustrator and designer from Vancouver, BC. Her work is inspired by alternative cultures, sociopolitical systems, the unconscious, as well as her mixed Eurasian heritage. She has had murals on display as a part of Vancouver Mural Fest and Vancouver Folk Music Festival. Kyla’s work has also been featured on Loose Lips, Contrast Collective and Ricepaper Magazine. Her collaborations include the visual identity for the launch of Creep Off, a street harassment reporting service sponsored by Good Night Out. She has also worked with the James Black Gallery and The Only Animal, local arts nonprofits where she has contributed skills in print design and digital illustration.
The sense of community Kyla has found in Vancouver inspires her to explore how to engage illustration and design with the public. This has lead Kyla down paths that include producing a series of digital skills workshops called FEMMES (Femmes Engaging Multimedia and Evolving Systems) while continuing her practice.
