My work is inspired by the unconscious, specifically how mythology transmutes the subconscious into language. I especially enjoy using references to Chinese mythology in ways that create surreal and speculative scenes questioning the status quo.
From the Chinese classic Journey to the West to the Jewish myth of Leilah, I dissect and reassemble how I approach the stories of my mixed heritage through what I create. One could describe my practice as thinking and feeling out loud, sorting through the symbols and ideas I’ve encountered.
