What's it About?
Mixed Feelings is a publication concept inspired by my own experiences as someone of mixed race, and how many stories are common to folks of mixed backgrounds. This magazine is for anyone curious about social politics and discourse. Those who know folks of mixed backgrounds, and people of mixed race themselves can find community through this magazine.
Approach
The target audience is from youth to people in their fifties, who largely live and/or work in urban centres. I wanted my typography and layouts to convey a progressive attitude through experimentation with vertical text for the section names and multiple fonts, visually embodying the concept of diverse voices being heard. Although there are many elements to the layout, by maintaining a comfortable amount of negative space for the design to breathe the magazine still feels clean and organized.
